PLDT SMART Foundation announces start of 2010 Cinemabuhay script submissions for P1M grant
[Manila, January , 2010] – The PLDT Smart Foundation (PSF) and Cinemabuhay today, January 27, 2010, announced the start of the submission process for script entries to the 2010 competition.
PSF makes an annual award of one million pesos for a script by a new filmmaker. Deadline of submission is on or before May 15, 2010.
Previous awardees are “Numbalikdiwa,” 2007, “Cul de Sac,” 2008 and “Slow Fade,” 2009. “Slow Fade” is currently being filmed by director Rommel Sales, producer Verchie Totanes and writer Paul Sta. Ana. Its actors include Diether Ocampo and Lara Precious Quigaman.
“Numbalikdiwa” was written and directed by Bobby Salvador while “Cul de Sac” was written and directed by Miguel Sevilla and starred Sam Milby, Jody Santamaria and Chin-Chin Gutierrez.
“Cinemabuhay gives Filipino writers, directors and producers a chance to realize their dreams,” said Albert Martinez, Cinemabuhay head.
“We are hoping to cast a wide net to search for our next Cinemabuhay winner. If you’ve ever wanted to direct, write or produce a film, this is your chance,” said PSF President Butch Meily.
Cinemabuhay was founded in August 2005 by a group led by Mr. Martinez. Mr. Martinez put together a working group of creative and production people who helped screen the initial entries and choose the winner.
